Comment Forming Basic D&D (through to Immortals) Group (Every Other Monday 6-10 pm)
by admin last modified Jun 01, 2015 11:01 PM
by Hawke — last modified Sep 17, 2014 10:10 PM — Every other Monday, beginning October 6th, on the first and third Monday of each month from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (will adjust plus/minus one hour if needed for participants). Forming Basic D&D (through to Immortals) Group (Every Other Monday 6-10 pm) Posted by Hawke at September 17. 2014 Looking to form a classic Basic D&D; (Red Box) Dungeons & Dragons semi-weekly (every other week) group. We will start with several of the B-series modules, then work up through the Expert, Companion, Masters, and finally Immortals level rules and adventures.   Please contact if you are interested if: * You have never played the old Basic D&D; adventures * Available for 3 to 4 hours every other week, Monday evenings around 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm (can be adjusted plus or minus an hour to accommodate participants schedules, for example 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm or 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm). * Age 18+ * Please be reliable showing up for sessions. * Not required to have previous RPG experience, but mature players (not really age or experience related) are preferred. * ROLE-playing will be emphasized over ROLL-playing Though the modules by design are is some hack and slash (though I'm picking the adventure that are not just dungeon crawls), most opportunities will present a chance for role-playing, rather than just combat. Players interested in richer interaction and character development are preferred over hack and slashers. If interested, please contact Hawke: hawkenterprising at gmail dot com Cell: (509) 481-5437 (text is okay)

Comment Tolkien-based Campaign, forming new group, need players. Spokane Area. (Every other Friday 7-10 pm)

Tolkien-based Campaign, forming new group, need players. Spokane Area. Posted by Hawke at January 27. 2013 Anyone interested in playing in a Tolkien-based setting (Middle-earth)? I would like to get a new group together dedicated to playing in a Tolkien Setting. Previously I have used ICE's MERP and Rolemaster, and a little bit with Decipher's LotR (didn't care for), I have also adapted D&D 3.5 to Middle-earth and have used my own system Ea RPG ( http://earpg.com) . I am happy to use D&D or any other system as long as it is a Tolkien-based setting. I have multiple copies of the new official system by Cubicle 7 / Sophisticated Games, dedicated to Middle-earth, called TOR - The One Ring - RPG. It is actually quite a nice system based on the experiences I have had when I have GM'd it at conventions, now I would like to get a regular group together to play it. Who would be interested? I have been playing since 1979, and GMing since 1983, especially experienced with Tolkien-based settings. My style, and the game system itself, very much encourages ROLE-playing over ROLL-playing or hack and slash. I have a somewhat flexible schedule, but it depends on the timing. Saturday nights after 5:00 pm are not available, but otherwise most of the week I can be fairly flexible, depending on the details of course. I have offices where we could meet near Monroe and Maxwell. (I reside up north near Whitworth). Or we could meet initially at some place like Merlyn's, and then once everyone gets to know each other, migrate to the office, or my home. Who would be interested? Which system would you prefer? (MERP/RM, Decipher, Ea D&D d20 3.5, Ea RPG, TOR) Which days and times would work best for you (weekly)? I'll make an initial suggestion, would either Sundays from 11:00 am to 2:00/3:00 pm work? Or how about Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 8:00/9:00 pm? Other? I look forward to your postings. Namarie! -Hawke

Comment Multi-Classing Options
by admin last modified Jun 01, 2015 11:02 PM
Posted by Thurmin at November 22. 2014 So, for my Northron Cleric of Thor character. Since I've been working on my concept, I've thought of the routes I would go to further progress that concept. I realize that the typical 'I want X because that would be cool' probably doesn't work in your games. I further recognize that a character/player needs a full, working concept/attitude to be able to go into another class. Now, I was thinking strongly about Bard, to further increase my abilities to help my allies. However, with the changes to how healing functions in the game, and with the loss of Short Rest healing I would lose too much functionality from that choice. My other thoughts were to go Ranger for a single level, picking up Elves and Humans as my favored enemies and tundra? as my favored terrain due to where I was born/raised. Add in 2 levels of Fighter to further increase my martial aptitude to help round out my Viking-ness. I have the stats that the game mechanics call for to Multiclass. I realize there is time before the option for class change happens, but I'd like to know my options as I am a person that likes to map my progress.

Posted by Thurmin at November 27. 2014 Follow Up:   I'm all over the board, at one point I liked the idea of Bard 2/Ranger 1/Cleric 17. Then I was all about Fighter 3/Cleric 17. Again Wizard 3/Cleric 17. Now? I haven't the foggiest. I just know that I like the idea of planning it out and until I get a final answer to all my pesky annoying questions and inquiries I'll probably continue to map out my advancement. Probably end up playing straight Cleric in the long run, due to how the game progression functions (class based advancement, not level based) but I don't know.   I've a thirst for the game and this time off for holidays is driving me stir-crazy.
