Regnum Sapientium (King Arthur's Kingdom)
This continent is considered the "
middle north land[+]
" in relation to the other continents, though the far eastern oriental lands consider themselves the "
Middle-kingdom[+]
".
The humans in this area were originally tribal (Celtic/Gaelic).
All the humans in this area, initially learned the lower “vulgar” tongue of the
High Elves
during this occupation of hundreds of years. Most of the humans respected but feared this much more advanced people.
For many years after The
Great Battle[+]
, until the High Elves came along and “civilized them” (later the Elves lost interest, and pulled back some of the borders, leaving the humans to fend for themselves), the lands now ruled by the humans were empty, desolate, while lands. Then slowly the humans began to settle in small villages, then quickly out-populated the Elves of the region.
It has been many scores of years since the
Elves[+]
left the humans to their own rule in this area. There was war and chaos for centuries, the people of the lands now called
Regnum Sapientium
call these brutal centuries The
Warring Years[+]
. This went on for centuries until "
Uther Pendragon[+]
" began to unite the kingdoms. Over time, the language of the humans in this area drifted to their own variant of the Elven tongue, that the humans now call “
UrLatin[+]
”.
The humans that do not hold on to their old Celtic/Gaelic roots, and do not consider themselves to be part of Arthur's kingdom, call themselves the “
Latiniatus[+]
” roughly after the structure of the Elven tongue.
The Arthurian Human kingdom was greatly influenced by the
High Elves
, and thus also takes that on, but as actual Latin.
Those of Arthur's lands call themselves the
Sapiens
, from
Homo Sapiens[+]
“wise or knowing man”.
Their land they call
Sapientium[+]
.
This only applies to the humans from this “
Arthurian Age[+]
” part of the
Worlds of Beru
.
When the PCs arrive at the southern port of this land,
Port Balchoth
, they find out that war is brewing between the forces of
Arturias
aka
King Arthur
versus
Mordred[+]
's forces.
They are told to meet "
The Emissary[+]
" at
Numien's Inn
on a specific night.
The Elves were once a great empire, but they have been slowly withdrawing from their vast empires, breaking into smaller factions, and losing interest in the struggles of the "lesser races".
The following information only applies to the humans from this “
Arthurian Age[+]
”, in this particular part of the
World of Beru
(there are many other continents that have very different histories separated by vast seas, and the vast sea mists.
After the fall of
Uther Pendragon[+]
, war spread anew, until the rise of
Arthur Pendragon[+]
.
Arthur has brought peace and prosperity to the human lands of the
Latiniatus[+]
(as the Elves call them) for many years.
But trouble is brewing, that will directly affect all the surrounding lands and people, human, elf, and otherwise.
In recent years the
Sapientium[+]
priests had all the cats in the kingdom slain, believing them to be spies and servants of “evil forces” (actually true, many worked for
Lolth[+]
and The
Drow
). The humans of the kingdom are very superstitious (without much consistency), and so have helped all but eliminate all
felines[+]
(house-cat-sized at least) from the lands. This has of course lead to a rise in vermin. And rumours of a
Black Plague[+]
.
The humans in this area were originally completely tribal (Celtic/Gaelic/Pictish).
